How to use the Product Description Builder

Read what the guide says

This is the Product Description Builder.

Turn your product details into titles, descriptions and bullet points, checked against Merchant Center Help.

Type the product name, brand and category, then the key features one per line, the material,

the size or quantity, and who it is for.

Or press Try an example to fill in sample details.

Add use and care, what is in the box, the price and any offer,

and words you never want in your copy.

Pick a title, copy the descriptions and bullet points,

and fix anything the checks mark before you publish.

It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.

Try it free on this page.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

What it is, in the words shoppers use. No price or offer here.

One feature per line. They become the bullet points. Four to six work well.

One size gives one title. For several sizes, make one listing per size.

Price and offer (kept out of the title and description)

Separate them with commas. They are marked wherever they appear.

For Indian marketplaces (optional)

These go in the listing's detail fields, not in the description.

Templates, not AI

This tool does not write new sentences. It puts your details in a fixed order with a few linking words, then checks the result.

Type your product's details to start

Title options, a short and a long description and bullet points appear here, with checks against Merchant Center Help.

About the Product Description Builder

Type your product's name, brand, key features, material, size, who it is for, care and what comes in the box. You get title options in the order Merchant Center Help suggests, a short description, a long description with sections (as text, HTML or Markdown), bullet points, and the price and offer kept apart. Checks follow Merchant Center Help and our own list: length, promotional text, capitals, links, words you want to avoid and claims that need proof. It runs in your browser and uses templates, not AI.

How it works

  1. 01

Type the product name, brand and category, then the key features one per line, the material, the size or quantity, and who it is for.

  2. 02

Add use and care, what is in the box, the price and any offer, and words you never want in your copy.

  3. 03

Pick a title, copy the descriptions and bullet points, and fix anything the checks mark before you publish.

How the text is put together

The tool fills fixed templates with your own details. The title follows Merchant Center's advice for clothing (brand, then gender, product type, size and colour) or our suggested order for other products, with the most important details first. The description opens with what the product is, its material and colour and who it is for, then lists your features, size, care and box contents under headings. Your features become the bullet points, which also work as product highlights in Merchant Center.

What the checks look for

Merchant Center Help allows titles up to 150 characters and descriptions up to 5,000, recommends around 500 to 1,000 characters, and asks for the product only: no promotional text such as "free shipping", no all capitals, no links to your store and no other products. Product highlights can be up to 150 characters each, and Google recommends four to six. Our checks add words you want to avoid, words used too often, and claims such as "100% pure" or "best" that need proof under ASCI's Code.

What this tool cannot do

It does not see your product or your page, so it cannot tell whether a detail is true or whether your page matches your feed. It does not write new selling points: if your features are thin, the description will be too. The word lists for promotional text and claims are ours and can miss things. It is not legal advice on labelling rules.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool use AI to write product descriptions?

No. It does not use ChatGPT or any other AI model. It puts the details you type in a fixed order, with a few linking words such as "Made for", and checks the result. If you do rewrite a description with a generative AI tool, Merchant Center Help asks you to submit AI-created descriptions in the structured description attribute.

How long should a product description be?

Merchant Center Help recommends around 500 to 1,000 characters and allows up to 5,000. Length matters less than the details: say what the product is, what it is made of, its size, who it is for, how to use and care for it, and what comes in the box.

Can I put the price or "free shipping" in the description?

Not for Google. Merchant Center Help asks you to keep promotional text such as "free shipping", sales information and prices out of titles and descriptions. Put the price, sale price and shipping in their own fields. The tool keeps your price and offer apart for this reason.

Can I copy the manufacturer's description?

You can, but many other shops will have the same words. Google's spam policies name affiliate pages whose product descriptions are copied from the original merchant with no original content or added value. Describe the product in your own words: what you checked, measured or noticed, and what your customers ask about.

What details must I show when I sell packed goods online in India?

The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules ask that goods a seller shows on an e-commerce platform carry the declarations the rules require, such as the maker's or packer's name and address, net quantity, retail sale price and consumer care details, and the country of origin for imported goods. The tool lists which of these you have given. Check the rules or your marketplace for your product.
