About the Meta Ads Budget Calculator
Plan a Facebook and Instagram ads budget from your own numbers. Enter what a customer or an order is worth, your margin, and the CPM, link click-through rate and conversion rate from Ads Manager, and see the cost per lead or purchase you can afford, the daily budget to enter, the impressions, reach and clicks it buys, and the profit to expect. It also checks whether the ad set will get around 50 results a week, which Meta says the learning phase needs. Switch on GST if you cannot claim it back.
How it works
On Meta the plan starts from CPM, the cost of 1,000 impressions. CPM ÷ 1,000 ÷ link CTR gives the cost of a link click, and the conversion rate turns clicks into leads or orders. From there it uses the same sums as our Google Ads Budget Calculator: what a lead or order is worth to you, what you can afford to pay for it, and the budget your goal needs.
The learning phase and daily budgets
Meta says an ad set is unlikely to leave the learning phase without around 50 optimisation events in the week after its last significant edit. We show how many results a week the budget buys, and our estimate of the daily budget for 50 at your cost per result. Meta can spend more than the daily budget on some days, but not more than 7 times it in a week, Sunday to Saturday.
What this tool cannot do
It cannot predict your CPM or click-through rate: both change with the audience, creative, placement, competition and season. Use the numbers from your own Ads Manager, or run a small test for a week first. Ads Manager counts results with its own attribution settings, so check leads and sales in your own records too.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I spend on Facebook and Instagram ads?
Work back from what a customer is worth. If a customer brings ₹12,000 at a 60% margin and you close 1 lead in 4, a lead is worth up to ₹1,800 before the ads lose money. Multiply the leads you want by the cost per lead you expect, and check that the budget buys around 50 results a week per ad set, which Meta says the learning phase needs.
What is CPM on Facebook ads?
CPM is the average cost of 1,000 impressions: amount spent ÷ impressions × 1,000. If ₹5,000 buys 40,000 impressions, the CPM is ₹125. Together with the link click-through rate it sets what a click costs: with a 1% link CTR, a ₹125 CPM means about ₹12.50 for each link click. Better creative raises CTR and lowers that cost.
What is the learning phase in Meta ads?
After you create an ad set or make a significant edit, Meta is still learning how best to deliver it, and results are less stable. Meta says an ad set becomes "Learning limited" when it is unlikely to get around 50 optimisation events in the week after the last significant edit. Pausing it or changing the optimisation event, audience or creative counts as significant.
Should I use instant forms or my website for lead ads?
Instant forms open inside Facebook or Instagram, so people do not have to leave the app. Whether they bring better customers than a website form depends on your business, so test both. Enter each one's click-to-lead rate and close rate here and compare the cost per customer, not only the cost per lead.
Is GST charged on Facebook ads in India?
Yes. Meta adds GST to ad charges for accounts whose business country is India, billed in rupees by Facebook India Online Services. Add your GSTIN in your ad account's payment settings to claim the input tax credit. The budget you set in Ads Manager is before GST, so tick the GST box here if you cannot claim it back.
