About the Google Ads Editor Bulk Builder
Enter a campaign name, a daily budget, your services and the places you serve, and this tool builds one ad group per service, or per service and place, with keywords from the patterns you choose. Write the responsive search ad once, with {service} and {place} filled in for each ad group, or add ad groups yourself. It checks headline, description, path and keyword limits, duplicate keywords and final URLs, then gives you a CSV for Google Ads Editor. It runs in your browser and never connects to your Google Ads account.
How it works
-
Step 1
Add the campaign name and daily budget, then list your services, with a final URL for each one that has its own page, and the places you serve.
-
Step 2
Pick keyword patterns such as "{service} in {place}", the match types and how to split ad groups, then write the shared headlines and descriptions.
-
Step 3
Fix anything in the problems list, check the preview, then download the campaign CSV and import it in Google Ads Editor with Account › Import › From file.
What goes into the file
Google Ads Editor expects each row of a CSV to describe one item. The campaign file has a row for the campaign with its type and budget, a row for each ad group, a row for each keyword with its match type in the Criterion Type column, and a row for each responsive search ad with its headlines, descriptions, paths and final URL. Separate keyword and ad files are there for campaigns that already exist in Editor.
The limits it checks
A responsive search ad needs 3 to 15 headlines of up to 30 characters and 2 to 4 descriptions of up to 90 characters, each one different, plus two optional paths of up to 15 characters. Keywords can have up to 80 characters and 10 words. The same keyword in two ad groups is flagged as our checklist, because only one keyword can trigger an ad for a search.
What this tool cannot do
It does not set locations, languages, networks, bidding or ad schedules, so set those in Editor before you post. It cannot see your account, so it cannot tell whether a keyword already exists elsewhere or how many people search for it. Its policy flags are pattern checks, and Google's review decides. Column names follow Editor's usual headers, and Editor lets you correct any header during import.
Frequently asked questions
How do I import a CSV into Google Ads Editor?
Open the account in Editor and keep or reject any pending changes first. Select Account, Import, From file, and choose the CSV, or choose Paste text. Editor shows the column headers so you can correct any that are wrong. The preview shows up to 100 rows, but every row is imported. The rows arrive as proposed changes: review them, keep them, then post.
How many headlines and descriptions does a responsive search ad need?
At least 3 headlines and 2 descriptions, and up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions. Headlines can have up to 30 characters and descriptions up to 90, with Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters counting as 2. Each headline and description in an ad should be different. The tool checks every ad group after {service} and {place} are filled in, because a long place name can push a headline over the limit.
Should I make one ad group per service or per service and place?
One per service keeps the account small and works when the same ad and landing page suit every place. One per service and place lets each ad name the locality, such as Karve Nagar, but multiplies the ad groups you manage. Our suggestion is to start with one per service and give a place its own ad group only when it gets enough searches to need its own ad.
Can I add these ad groups to a campaign I already have?
Yes. Use the exact name of the existing campaign. Editor uses the campaign, ad group, keyword text and match type to decide whether a row edits something that exists or adds something new. To add only keywords or only ads to ad groups that already exist, use the separate keyword and ad files with Make multiple changes in Editor.
Why does the tool warn about the same keyword in two ad groups?
Google uses only one keyword from your account to trigger an ad for a search, chosen by its own priority rules and Ad Rank. With the same keyword in two ad groups, you cannot be sure which ad and landing page people see. This is our checklist rather than a Google rule. Keep each keyword where its ad fits best, and use Tools, Find duplicate keywords in Editor.
