Clicks, Cost and Conversions as columns, for at least the last 8 weeks.

Or press Try an example to fill in sample details.

and pick one campaign if you like.

Compare each day with

A Tuesday is compared with earlier Tuesdays, as Google's Account Anomaly Detector script does (26 weeks by default there). Fewer weeks follow recent changes sooner.

Sensitivity

Our measure. Low flags moves of 50% or more, medium 30%, high 20%, and only when the move is also large for how much the comparison days vary.

About the Account Anomaly Checker

Upload or paste a daily report from Google Ads, for the account or by campaign. Like Google's Account Anomaly Detector script, the checker compares each day with the same weekday in earlier weeks (or with the days just before) and flags days when cost, impressions, clicks, conversions, cost per conversion or conversion value moved far from normal. It also finds days with no impressions, conversions that stopped while clicks carried on, and lasting changes such as a budget cut, with likely causes to check for each. The report never leaves your browser.

How it works

  1. Step 1

In Google Ads, open Insights and reports › Report editor and build a table with Day in the rows and Impr., Clicks, Cost and Conversions as columns, for at least the last 8 weeks. Download it as CSV.

  2. Step 2

Drop the file here or paste the table. Choose how to compare each day and how sensitive the check should be, and pick one campaign if you like.

  3. Step 3

Start with the "do these first" list, open "How to fix" for the likely causes, then copy the summary or download the flagged days as CSV.

How a day is compared with normal

Google's Account Anomaly Detector, an official Google Ads script, compares today with the average of the same weekday over earlier weeks. This checker does the same from a report you download: normal is the middle value of the same weekday in up to the number of weeks you choose (or of the days just before), and a day is flagged when it is far from that and far for how much those days usually vary. The thresholds are our measure, not Google's.

Tracking breaks, outages and lasting changes

Three patterns get their own findings. A day with no impressions means no ads showed. Conversions near zero while clicks stay close to normal point to conversion tracking or the website rather than the ads. A level of spend, clicks or conversions that changes and stays changed for a week or more usually follows a change someone made, such as a lower budget. The likely causes listed are our checklist, with where to look in Google Ads.

What this tool cannot do

It only sees the numbers in your report, so it cannot tell what changed in your account: Change history in Google Ads shows that. Conversions are reported on the day of the click, so the last few days can still fill in. Days missing from the report are counted as days with no activity. It does not sign in to Google Ads or send alerts; for email alerts, set up Google's Account Anomaly Detector script in your account.

Frequently asked questions

What is an anomaly in Google Ads?

A day when a number such as cost, clicks or conversions is far from what is normal for your account on that kind of day. Some anomalies are good news, such as a festival rush, and some are problems, such as ads that stopped showing or conversion tracking that broke. Spotting them early stops a problem from running for weeks.

Why compare a day with the same weekday?

Many businesses get fewer searches at weekends, so comparing a Sunday with the Friday before would flag every Sunday. Google's Account Anomaly Detector script also compares each day with the same weekday in earlier weeks. If your account has no weekly pattern, comparing with the days just before works too.

My conversions dropped to zero but clicks did not. What should I check?

Start with conversion tracking. In Google Ads, open Goals › Conversions › Summary and look at the Status of each conversion action, then test the tag with Tag Assistant. Submit your own form or tap your call button to check the website still works. If the website changed on the day conversions stopped, start there.

How do I find out what changed in my account?

Open Change history in Google Ads. It lists changes to the account, campaigns and ad groups for the past two years, with who made each one, and you can filter by type of change, such as budget or status changes. Match the dates of a flagged day or a lasting change with the changes listed there.

Can I get alerts automatically?

Yes. Google publishes an official script, the Account Anomaly Detector, that you add to your account as a Google Ads script. It compares impressions, clicks, conversions and cost with the same weekday in earlier weeks and emails you when one crosses a threshold you set. This page links to it; it does not sign in to your account or send alerts itself.
