About the WhatsApp Link & QR Generator
Turn your WhatsApp number into a click-to-chat link that opens a chat with you, with the first message already typed for the customer. Pick a ready-made message in English or Hinglish, download a QR code for your counter, menu or packaging, and copy a floating "Chat on WhatsApp" button for your website. It runs in your browser: your number is not sent to us or to WhatsApp.
How the link works
WhatsApp's click-to-chat format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full number in international format: the country code and number, without +, a leading zero, brackets or dashes. Add ?text= and a URL-encoded message to fill in the first message. With no number, WhatsApp asks the customer which chat to send the message to.
The WhatsApp Business app has its own link
The WhatsApp Business app makes a short link and QR code for your business under Tools > Short link, with a default message of up to 140 characters. This tool adds ready-made messages, a website button and print files, and works for personal WhatsApp numbers too.
What this tool cannot do
It cannot check whether a number has WhatsApp, and it cannot count clicks or chats. The link works only if the number has an active WhatsApp account. To see where chats come from, use a different first message for each poster or ad, such as "Hi, I saw your Diwali poster".

How do I make a WhatsApp link for my business?
Enter your WhatsApp number with its country code, choose or type the first message, and copy the link. It looks like https://wa.me/911234567890?text=Hi. Anyone who taps it opens a chat with you, with the message already typed. Put it in your Instagram bio, website and ads, and test it on your own phone before you print it.
Why does my WhatsApp link not work?
Check the number first: it must be the full international number, with the country code and without +, a leading zero, brackets or dashes. For India that is 91 followed by the 10-digit mobile number. The number must also have an active WhatsApp account. If the message looks garbled, it was not URL-encoded; this tool encodes it for you.
Can I put a WhatsApp QR code on my shop counter or menu?
Yes. Download the QR code as a PNG for screens and social posts, or as an SVG for print, which stays sharp at any size. Print it large enough to scan from where customers stand, keep the white border around it, and test it with two or three phones before you print many copies.
Is there a limit on the length of the first message?
WhatsApp does not publish a limit for wa.me links. The WhatsApp Business app's own short link allows a default message of up to 140 characters, which is a sensible length for any link: the customer can read the whole message, edit it and send it in one tap. This tool counts the characters as you type.
Does the website button slow down my site?
The button uses no scripts: it is a single link with inline styles and a small inline icon, so there is nothing extra to download. Paste it before the closing body tag in your theme, or into a custom HTML block in WordPress, Shopify or Wix. Change the text, position or colour in the code if you need to.
