About the AI Extractability Checker
AI answers are built from short passages lifted out of pages. Enter a page and we score how easy that is: whether each section opens with the answer, paragraph and sentence length, paragraphs that only make sense in context, filler, facts and figures, definitions, question headings and sources. You get a score, every section with what to change, the passages AI could already quote, and the ones to rewrite. Add the question you want to be cited for to see whether the page answers it.
How it works
-
Step 1
Enter the page, and optionally the question you want AI assistants to answer with it.
-
Step 2
We read the main content as a crawler does (no JavaScript), split it into sections and measure each one.
-
Step 3
You get a score, the fixes to do first, a section-by-section list, and the best and hardest passages to quote.
Why extractability matters
AI assistants rarely quote a whole page. They pick passages that answer a question on their own: a short paragraph that names its subject, states the answer and gives a specific detail. Pages written that way are easier to cite than pages that warm up, wander or rely on context.
What it checks
Answer-first openings, sections that start with a direct answer, paragraphs over 100 words, average sentence length, paragraphs starting with "This" or "It", filler phrases, numbers per 1,000 words, "X is…" definitions, question headings, lists and tables, sources, and how many passages are quotable as they stand.
What it cannot measure
Whether a page is cited also depends on the question, competing pages and your reputation across the web. Extractability makes good content easy to use; it does not replace expertise.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from the AI Search Readiness Checker?
Readiness checks the page as a whole: crawler access, schema, author, dates and the basics. Extractability goes into the writing itself, section by section, and shows which passages to rewrite.
What makes a passage quotable?
About 25 to 80 words, one point, the subject named rather than "this" or "it", a direct statement such as "Local SEO costs…" or "It takes…", and ideally a specific number or detail.
Should every paragraph be short?
No. Explanations and examples can be longer. What matters is that each section opens with a short, direct answer that can stand on its own.
Can I check a competitor's page?
Yes. To compare two pages side by side, use the AI Citation Gap Checker.
